Signal 13 – Call to Action – April 2021 Newsletter

Thank you for your continued support of the Signal 13 Foundation and the men and women of the Baltimore Police Department. Times have changed for police in Baltimore. It is tougher now than ever before to be a police officer, but the need for a strong police force has never been greater. That is why your support of Baltimore’s Police families is so important.

One of the greatest honors as CEO is talking to the people Signal 13 supports. Whether it is a mother putting 3 kids through college or the wife of a police cadet severely injured in a training exercise, it is their stories that validate the mission of the Signal 13 Foundation.

Congratulations to Baltimore’s newest Police Academy graduates, who are now serving the citizens of Baltimore. The Signal 13 Foundation’s CEO, Nancy Hinds, and President of the Board of Directors, Sean O’Conor had the pleasure of meeting the Class of 20-04 and talking about the benefits of Signal 13 the day before being sworn in.

 

 

Supporting Baltimore Police Families through College Scholarships

The Signal 13 Foundation has expanded its role beyond helping qualified Baltimore City Police Department personnel in times of financial stress by funding college scholarships for the children of active members, both civilian and sworn. The Signal 13 Foundation is an independent nonprofit that is not affiliated with the Baltimore Police Department or the FOP. Every dollar we raise comes from individual donors, foundations, and corporate grants.  Your support is more important than ever to continue our mission. The Baltimore Police Department continues to struggle with the recruitment and retention of qualified police officers.  With your support, the Signal 13 Foundation can help reverse that trend by providing more resources for our first responders.  Retaining qualified and experienced police officers should be a priority for everyone who cares about Baltimore.
